Giving Back This Holiday Season

Giving Back This Holiday Season

Marlene Escobedo

Every year  during the holidays many of us are lucky enough to have a nice hot meal and spend time with loved ones. Many of us do not realize that there are others who are not as fortunate as we are. So, how about giving back this Thanksgiving and Christmas and let someone be as lucky as we are this holiday season.

The Las Vegas Rescue Mission has been providing food for those in need since 1970 with help from their annual food drive. This non-profit organization accepts anything from Ramen Noodles to soups, pasta, rice and canned goods. You can drop off your items at your local Starbucks starting  October 1st up until December 31st.

Capriotti’s Thanksgiving Food Drive also accepts canned items and they may be dropped off at any Capriotti’s location. Also, if you donate 5 or more items you receive a small to medium sandwich upsize. Giving back is really easy!

If you want to got the extra mile you could also volunteer at places like the Salvation Army and Three Square. You can sort and repackage food, fill backpacks with weekend food for children, help out at special events, or even box meals for seniors. All it takes is effort and wanting to help in order to give others a taste of how lucky we really are.
