New Year, New You!

New Year, New You!

After Christmas people start thinking about what they want to achieve in the upcoming year.  Chances are at some point in your life, you’ve made a New Year’s resolution. A lot of people usually go for common resolutions,  such as losing weight, volunteering, saving money, eating healthy; the list goes on and on.

We wanted to see what some of the students here at East Tech resolved to change for the new year.  Most of them  said they wanted to be more active, such as trying out for a new sport or club. The second biggest resolution  was to get better grades and to try harder in school to achieve the perfect straight A’s! So you could say we have our new year starting off with great resolutions and hard working students!

Approximately 44% of people actually achieve the goals they have made.  Chances are, you made a resolution this year. We want you to fall under the percentage of people who actually achieve their goals.   Here are some tips to help keep you motivated!  Remember to be realistic; make small changes and gradually move forward. Second of all, don’t forget to reward yourself.  Just make sure your reward doesn’t contradict what you are aiming to change. For example, if you want to lose weight and you do, don’t reward yourself with a BigMac, fries, and a shake! Instead, take yourself out to the movies or buy some new clothes!  Last but not least, plan ahead.  Don’t make a spur of the moment resolution on New Year’s Eve; try to have your resolution well before December 31 in order to give yourself time to think about what you really need to improve on. In conclusion, the Mountain View staff would like to say Happy New Year and we wish you the best!
