SkillsUSA State Competition

East Career and Technical Academy students attended the Skills USA State Conference in Reno, NV, which was held from April 14-17, 2015. Twenty-eight of East Tech’s students, from the Construction, Culinary, Crime Scene Investigation, and Medical programs, brought home medals. Kyra Mathews, part of the culinary program, brought home the gold in the Job Skills Demonstration Competition, while Gilbecca Smith, one of ECTA’s medical students, brought home the gold in Nurse Assisting. Of course, all of their hard work would not be possible without the guidance and support of their amazing teachers, whose hard work did not go unnoticed.   Mr. Vegas, one of ECTA’s Construction teachers, was named as Nevada SkillsUSA Advisor of the Year! Also, Ms. Benson, East Tech’s Forensic teacher, was named as an outstanding adviser. Way to go East Tech SkillsUSA! You rock!
